Mission & Goals

Founded in 1997, Diesis Network is now one of the widest networks specialised in supporting the development of the social economy, social entrepreneurship and social innovation. In view of the high social, economic and ecological stakes, we are deeply convinced that a global commitment from all stakeholders and a collaborative approach is the only response to a global crisis. Therefore, we put great value on our 50+ member organisations in 20+ countries. Functioning as a unique ecosystem, we create and multiply the impact through a close collaboration with our members, who represent over 90 000 organisations and 1.2 million jobs through major national federations and support networks. With a variety of profiles, backgrounds and origins, our team is actively engaged in implementing knowledge-based activities such as training, project design, consultancy and advisory services, technical assistance and research.

EU Legislative Interests

The European Union (EU) aims to promote social progress and improve the living and working conditions of everyone in the EU, a principle enshrined in the preamble of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU). Diesis Network follows the legislation on social affairs and equal opportunities and more in general policies aiming at improving living and working conditions by promoting more and better jobs, skills, equality and social protection and inclusion. Diesis monitors that the timeline of the implementation of the 20 key principles of the European Pillar of Social Rights are respected by Member States. In order to achieve these objectives, Diesis is developing projects and activities to ensure equal opportunities and access to the labour market, increase employment and worker mobility, improve the quality of jobs and working conditions, inform and consult workers, combat poverty and social exclusion, promote equal opportunities and combat discrimination, and modernise social protection systems. Diesis is currently working on the following pieces of legislation: • MFF – Multiannual Financial Framework. • The NextGenerationEU recovery instrument. • The European Social Fund+. • Transparent and predictable working conditions in the EU (EU Directive 2019/1152). • Communication from the Commission — Union of equality: Strategy for the rights of persons with disabilities 2021-2030. • Council conclusions on cultural and creative crossovers to stimulate innovation, economic sustainability and social inclusion. • Council Regulation (EC) No 1435/2003 of 22 July 2003 on the Statute for a European Cooperative Society (SCE). • Council Directive 2003/72/EC of 22 July 2003 supplementing the Statute for a European Cooperative Society with regard to the involvement of employees. • European social dialogue. • Directive 2002/14/EC – general framework for informing and consulting employees in the EU.

Communication Activities

We make sure we are visible at all major Social Economy events, such as the Strasbourg conference in May 2022 or the Meetings in the Americas in Colombia and the ILO World Congress in October 2022. Through our presence and visibility on Diesis' public channels we ensure that we give visibility to our work and expand our capacity and influence in other parts of the world. The aim of the international presence is to expand the visibility of Diesis worldwide. The target audience of this block is all actors in the Social Economy and interested stakeholders. Visibility is about planning and designing activities for and with the network and constant engagement. One of the key points of Diesis' communication is to engage and activate our network of +50 members.
