Mission & Goals
Demos Helsinki is a globally operating, non-profit, and independent think tank that conducts research, creates new policy tools, and helps build capacities to instigate and sustain essential transitions. Demos Helsinki works to solve societal problems and challenges, aiming towards a fair and sustainable society in which everyone can shape the future. Demos Helsinki conducts transdisciplinary research in Futures research & scenarios, Urban transformations & sustainability studies, Organisations, strategies, decision-making, Human rights, inclusion, Political science, governance, Political Economy, and Co-Creation & experimentation, and aims to engage with research results to support decision-makers and promote evidence-based decision-making in the EU institutions.
EU Legislative Interests
Demos Helsinki conducts research and operates within the interaction and policy impact of several research projects and studies that have relevancy and targets to EU competency policy areas, such as monetary policies, employment and social affairs, economic, social and territorial cohesion, environment, energy, justice and fundamental rights, migration and home affairs, public health, research and space as well as the field of democracy. Currently, Demos Helsinki is part of the Horizon2020 projects Merge; Nets4Dem; CO3; FORSEE; NetZeroCities and Regions4Climate, as well as part of the the Nordic Near-Zero Emissions Steel and FEPS Digital Programme -projects, which aim to deliver research results to support EU policy-making in the areas of sustainable prosperity, digital policies, democracy and just transition.
Communication Activities
Demos Helsinki produces policy recommendations, organises and participates in events, seminars and other policy-related discussions at the parliament and organises meetings with policymakers and staff of the EU institutions.
