Mission & Goals
Democratic Society is a network of people working to create a democracy that works for the 21st century. We undertake practical projects, conduct research and build new democratic infrastructure that lets people involve themselves in the decisions that shape their lives.
EU Legislative Interests
We receive Horizon Europe funding for work on climate change in cities (Cities Mission) and in relation to the projects DEMOTEC, Nets4Dem, and the ErasmusPlus project PLACE-OUT. We have in the past worked on the Conference on the Future of Europe and related projects. We undertake no lobbying targeted at specific legislative proposals, though we are in regular communication with the Joint Research Centre and other units in the Commission that are concerned with citizen participation or the delivery of our projects, reflecting the shared interest in our core policy area. We are occasionally invited to participate in events in the Parliament or contribute to round table policy discussions in the Council Secretariat.
Communication Activities
Regular newsletters and a website. We are also involved in Horizon and other projects which produce communications materials.
