Mission & Goals
A free and pluralistic press is essential to ensure good journalism and citizens' access to information. Amendment Act amending the Copyright Act passed by the Danish Folketing on 3 June 2021 therefore grants publishers of press publications new rights, as publishers are granted an exclusive right in relation to information society services online use of their press publications. This is done in order to ensure publishers a return on their investment in the production of new editorial content, which contributes to the public debate and a well-functioning democratic society. The purpose of the association is to administer the new publishing right under the Danish Copyright Act, Sections 52 c and 69 a.
EU Legislative Interests
None targeted but the Danish law implements Directive 2019/790 ("New Copyright Directive"). Any EU legislation related to Article 15 and 17 of Directive 2019/790/EU and the AI Act and copyright would be of relevance to the DPCMO. The DPCMO promotes and enforces the rights of press publishers secured through the Danish implementation of Directive 2019/790.
