Mission & Goals

The CyberPeace Institute is an independent and neutral non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the cyber resilience of vulnerable communities, promoting international collaboration, and advancing accountability to build a more secure and stable cyberspace. Our mission to build an inclusive and trusted digital world relies on collaborative, multi-stakeholder efforts across sectors and borders to protect those most at risk, expose the human impact of cyberattacks, and ensure responsible behavior in cyberspace.

EU Legislative Interests

The CyberPeace Institute follows legislative and policy initiatives concerning cybersecurity governance, cyber resilience, digital platform regulation, and emerging technologies. The CyberPeace Institute also monitors EU discussions on the protection of democratic processes, resilience of civil society, and the role of public-interest cybersecurity initiatives. Key areas of engagement include the implementation and policy developments related to the NIS2 Directive, the Digital Services Act, and the AI Act, as well as broader EU strategies and initiatives on cybersecurity, hybrid threats, and digital trust led by the European Commission and other EU institutions. The CyberPeace Institute's work focuses particularly on the implications of these policies for non-profit actors and other public-interest entities that may face heightened exposure to cyber threats such as cyberattacks, digital surveillance, and disinformation campaigns. Through its policy engagement, the CyberPeace Institute seeks to contribute technical expertise and field insights on cyber harms affecting nonprofit organisations, with the objective of supporting informed policymaking and strengthening digital resilience across the European ecosystem.

Communication Activities

The CyberPeace Institute communication activities related to EU policy developments primarily consist of awareness-raising, knowledge sharing, and stakeholder engagement with European institutions, civil society organisations, and the broader cybersecurity community. Communication activities are intended to support informed dialogue between policymakers, researchers, civil society organisations, and the cybersecurity community regarding the protection of vulnerable actors in the digital space and the effective implementation of EU cybersecurity and digital governance policies. These activities include participation in policy discussions, expert consultations, workshops, and conferences organised by EU institutions, policy forums, and multi-stakeholder initiatives such as FIMI ISAC. The CyberPeace Institute also contributes to public discussions on cybersecurity policy through research publications, policy briefings, reports, and expert commentary addressing cyber threats affecting nonprofit organisations.
