Mission & Goals

The purpose of stablishing a temporary Cross-sectoral Coalition supporting Circular Choices for the EU’s Bioeconomy is to join the advocacy efforts of the partners involved (EU associations) ahead of the next European Commission’s mandate (2024-2029). The partners involved are part a fully integrated value-chain and aim at communicating effectively their needs, challenges and solutions for the next years. Areas where the coalition will work together include Circular Choices communication campaign, outreach, media coverage, and events.

Policy areas targeted include raw materials, bioeconomy, environment, climate and energy, trade and industry.

Communication Activities

On 28 March 2023, the Coalition was officially launched via a dedicated press release (published by each of the partners involved): https://www.cepi.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Cepi-press-release_Cross-sectoral-coalition_FINAL.pdf The Coalition also presented its strategic manifesto (who we are, vision, policy recommendations): https://www.cepi.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/CircularChoices_EU_Bioeconomy_SHORT.pdf As part of the Circular Choices communication campaign, led by the European Confederation of pulp & paper industies (Cepi), the coalition will align on social media posts, op-eds and other related material. The channels used will be the individual channels from each of the associations.

The coalition is formed by 14 partners: European Confederation of Pulp & Paper (Cepi) - main contact point; European Carton Makers Association (ECMA); European Paper Packaging Alliance (EPPA); European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers (FEFCO); Intergraf (graphic industry); European Confederation of Woodworking Industries (CEI-Bois); European Panel Federation (EPF); European Tissue Symposium (ETS); European Furniture Industries Confederation (EFIC); European Parquet Federation (FEP); Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment (ACE); European Pulp Industry Sector (EPIS); European Association of Carton and Carton board manufacturers (ProCarton); Bioenergy Europe The following additional EU associations are supporters of the messages of the Coalition (and its strategic manifesto) but are NOT partners of the coalition: Confederation of European Forest Owners (CEPF); European State Forest Association (EUSTAFOR); European farmers and agri-cooperatives (COPA-COGECA); European Organisation of agricultural, rural and forestry contractors (CEETTAR); European Landowners' Organization (ELO); Forest-based Sector Technology Platform (FTP)

Additional Information

In 2023-2024, the leading partner of the coalition (Cepi) fixed bilateral agreement with SecNewgate (intermediary) covering the following workstreams: outreach, communication, events, and aiming at supporting the work of the coalition. This agreement is covered financially only by Cepi and not by any other partner of the coalition.
