Mission & Goals
The Croatian Hypertension League (CHL) is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation dedicated to the prevention, early detection, and effective management of hypertension and related cardiovascular diseases. Its main goals are to raise public awareness about hypertension as a major risk factor, promote healthy lifestyles, support patient education, and improve adherence to treatment. The organisation works closely with healthcare professionals, researchers, patient groups, and public health institutions to advance knowledge and best practices in cardiovascular prevention. CHL is also engaged in advocacy activities aimed at improving public health policies, strengthening prevention programs, and reducing the burden of cardiovascular diseases at national and European level. The organisation supports scientific exchange, participates in conferences and projects, and contributes to initiatives aligned with EU health priorities.
EU Legislative Interests
EU Cardiovascular Health Plan (European Commission – call for evidence). The Croatian Hypertension League actively contributed to the European Commission’s public consultation process by submitting feedback and expert input. The contribution focused on cardiovascular disease prevention, early detection and management of hypertension, and improving patient outcomes across the European Union. Through this engagement, the organisation supported evidence-based policymaking and highlighted the importance of strengthening public health measures, awareness campaigns, and coordinated EU-level actions to reduce the burden of cardiovascular diseases.
Communication Activities
Conference: “Cardiovascular Health Crisis – What is our response?” held at the European Parliament on November 20, 2025.
