Mission & Goals
Consumers International is the global network of consumer organisations, with 200 Member organisations in 100 countries across the world. Founded in 1960, Consumers International holds general consultative status with the United Nations, and has standing relationships with other international organisations including the OECD, World Trade Organization and the International Organization for Standardization. We bring together our Members to collaborate across borders and champion the voice of the independent person in the marketplace for essential needs of access, safety, economic choice, protection of vulnerable consumers, redress, representation, information & education, sustainable consumption patterns in both traditional and online marketplaces. Our main focus areas are food, finance, energy, digital and sustainable consumption. We are registered as a charity under the Charity Commission of England and Wales with a Board and Council elected every four years at our Global Congress.
EU Legislative Interests
We support our member organisation to engage on a broad range of issues of relevance to current and proposed EU legislation and policy including digital financial, food and food safety, energy, digital safety, product safety, green transition, scams and consumer rights and protections.
Communication Activities

Member Of
Consumers International holds Official Observer Status with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD), Liaison Status with the Consumer Policy Committee of International Organization for Standardization (ISO), is member of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), holds a MOU with United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), United Nations Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and Organisation of American States (OAS). Consumers International is also part of the Civil Society Advisory Group for the Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
