Mission & Goals
CEBC is an independent public organisation composed of member organisations (members) representing different European countries and associated non- European countries from both public and private sectors. CEBC is comprised of about 32 institutions from twenty countries. Members are involved in building control or in the development of appropriate legislation and standards associated with health, safety, accessibility, energy conservation and sustainability aspects of the built environment and include professional organisations, government bodies or a comparable agency. The aim of the CEBC is to promote and contribute to improving the safety and sustainability of the built environment and to promote modern building control systems, which are both sustainable and business friendly.
EU Legislative Interests
Building Construction Standards Building energy efficiency Building Regulations Communication policies relating to the above (Events, Publications, Campaigns etc.) To promote the science and legislation of building control by providing a forum for the discussion The purpose of the Consortium of European Building Control is to serve as a Not-for-Profit platform for exchange of information and the development of common strategies of its members concerning building control. This comprises issues with regard to construction works, construction products and all related fields of regulation, including legislation, standards and professions. In the course of its activities the CEBC pursues in particular the following aims and objectives: • To promote the safety, convenience and sustainability of buildings through effective and proportionate building control, • To liaise with and assist the European Commission, EFTA, and governmental, professional and private institutions of European Member States and any other countries on building control matters, • To assist in the compliance with EU legislation which affects the process of construction and the construction industry, • To express the interest of European building control in standard making bodies at EU level, • To assist in matters related to the mutual recognition of professional qualifications and unimpeded provision of services in connection with the building control function, • To disseminate information on the execution and the effects of building control in the Member States, • of matters of mutual interest and the publication and dissemination of information, • To take part in research programmes and similar projects considered beneficial to the development of building control in Europe.
