Mission & Goals

CEBP represents more than 190,000 micro & SME craft bakeries and confectioneries, from 14 countries, employing over 2 million people in the EU. CEBP aims at stressing the economic and social impact of craft bakeries and confectioneries as warrants of youth employment, cultural heritage, craft, sustainability and proximity to consumers throughout the EU. Bakeries and confectioneries are in many occasions among the very few enterprises left in rural areas and are an integral part of the agri-food chain. A new Common Agricultural Policy and rural development programs should include them under its scope. The EU institutions are asked to support our micro & SMEs through policies focusing on a sector-specific think-small approach, including customized hygiene requirements, financing models, an easier access to EU-funded promotion campaigns, vocational training, digitalization, and Erasmus+ mobility projects, among others. EU Legislative Interests

CEBP campaigns for all relevant policy issues in Europe, which are important for bakers and confectioners, like Allergen Labelling, Indication of the Country of Origin, Exceptions for Food Labelling, Regulation on Official Controls in the Food Chain, Traffic Light Labelling, Promotion of Agricultural Products, Nutrition Profiles / Salt, Acrylamide, Transfatty Acids, etc.
