Mission & Goals

Composting Ltd. Smederevo is a private company engaged in the development, production, and distribution of sustainable solutions for biodegradable waste management, with a primary focus on composting technologies and circular economy models. Our core mission is to reduce the environmental impact of organic waste through innovative treatment processes, including closed-loop aerobic biostabilization, and to support the production of certified organic fertilizers. The company aims to promote green transition and climate neutrality in the Western Balkans by: • Implementing clean energy technologies (solar and biogas), • Providing decentralized composting infrastructure, • Supporting sustainable agriculture through eco-friendly inputs, • Collaborating with municipalities and businesses on Zero Waste strategies. Composting Smederevo operates in alignment with EU environmental goals, the European Green Deal, and the principles of the circular economy, while maintaining compliance with EU ESG.

EU Legislative Interests

• European Green Deal – promoting climate neutrality, circular economy, and sustainable industry practices. • EU Waste Framework Directive (Directive 2008/98/EC) – particularly regarding the waste hierarchy, prevention, reuse, recycling, and organic waste treatment. • EU Renewable Energy Directive (Directive (EU) 2018/2001, RED II) – supporting the deployment of renewable energy sources such as biogas and solar energy. • EU Methane Strategy – reducing emissions from biodegradable waste treatment. • Regulation (EU) 2019/1009 on fertilizing products – for placing organic compost on the EU market. • Farm to Fork Strategy – encouraging the use of sustainable fertilizers in organic agriculture. • EU Climate Law (Regulation (EU) 2021/1119) – contributing to the 55% emissions reduction target by 2030. • Western Balkans Green Agenda – in line with the Sofia Declaration and the regional environmental transition.

Communication Activities

Composting Ltd. Smederevo actively engages in communication activities that promote circular economy principles, waste reduction, and sustainable agriculture in line with EU policy goals. These activities include: • Organizing public workshops and technical presentations on municipal and industrial bio-waste management in cooperation with local authorities and environmental NGOs. • Participating in regional green transition forums and conferences, including the Adria Summit and waste management expos in the Western Balkans and EU. • Running educational campaigns for HoReCa and municipal partners on composting best practices and the use of certified organic fertilizers. • Publishing informational content and case studies related to EU-aligned composting technologies and CO₂ reduction impacts on our website and through local media. • Providing technical support and training modules for municipal waste management units in Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Albania. These efforts aim to raise awareness, promote the use of sustainable technologies, and align stakeholders with EU climate and waste management policies.
