Mission & Goals
The Fulbright Commission in Brussels has been creating connections and changing lives for seventy five years. In 1948, the Commission for Educational Exchange between the United States of America, Belgium, and Luxembourg was established by tri-national treaty with the mission of increasing mutual understanding through academic exchange between citizens of Belgium and Luxembourg and citizens of the United States. Since 1990, the commission has also provided opportunities for academic exchange between the U.S. and the European Union through the Fulbright Schuman Program. Over 4000 students, researchers, teaching assistants, and professors have benefitted from scholarships from the Fulbright Commission in Brussels over the past seven decades. Today, the Fulbright Commission continues to provide grants for passionate and accomplished students and scholars of all backgrounds to study, teach, and conduct research, helping to build mutual understanding between the USA and Europe.
