Mission & Goals

The Comité Européen de l' Industrie de la Robinetterie / European Association for the Taps and Valves Industry (CEIR—Taps & Valves Europe) was formed in 1959 as the European Federation of National Manufacturer Associations in the taps and valves industry. CEIR gathers the European valves and fittings manufacturers into two Product Committees (sanitary valves and building valves & industrial valves). CEIR represents 12 National Associations from the EU (DE, DK, ES, FR, FI, PL, IT, SE) and the UK, Türkiye, and Switzerland, as well as 11 member companies from Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Türkiye. CEIR represents European valve manufacturers' common economic, technical, and environmental interests, particularly in relation to international and European authorities and economic and commercial circles. CEIR facilitates reciprocal contacts at a European level within the valve industry. CEIR takes part in research work, testing and other activities.

- Technical legislation: Directive 2006/14 on Machinery, LVD (Directive 2014/35), ATEX (Directive 2014/34), PED (Directive 2014/68) - Environment: European Water Resilient Strategy, Drinking Water Directive (materials in contact with drinking water), water and energy labelling of taps and showers, European Performance of Building Directive, PEF, EPD, REACH Regulation, RoHS Resource efficiency, PFAS, Circular Economy, EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), - Horizontal matters: industrial policy, market surveillance, digitalisation, Internal Market for industrial products, WEEE directive, Dual use regulation, CEM, EcoDesign, EPD CEIR - Taps & Valves Europe in 2023-2024 has - submitted and communicated its position on the ECHA public consultation on the proposal for the restriction on the manufacture, placing on the market anduse of PFASs. - Submitted and communicated its position the EU Drinking Water Directive Revision

Communication Activities

CEIR—Taps & Valves Europe has contributed as a founding member to the creation of the Unified Water Label Association (UWLA), which aims to create a voluntary agreement in the framework of the Ecolabel Directive. The Unified Water Label is an easy-to-identify and simple-to-understand label that informs European consumers about water and associated energy consumption when using bathroom products, allowing them to make an informed choice. EVENTS CEIR - Taps & Valves Europe organises annually a congress on relevant EU policies and may also organise online seminars or events on specific topics of interest. In 2023, CEIR organised its annual congress in Marseille together with Europump and Pneurop, hosted by Evolis. In 2024, CEIR organised its congress in Bodrum, Türkiye, hosted by POMSAD. The Congress included discussions on the Drinking Water Directive DWD and PFAS, as well as the relationship between Technology, Innovation, and the Environment with Society and the Economy. In May 2025, CEIR will organise its Annual Meetings Congress in Brussels. The congress will discuss (EU Water Resielience Strategy, DWD, Clean Industrial Package, environmental Standards / EPD, International Trade and Cooperation, EU Industry Competitiveness) During the period March 2023 - March 2024, CEIR organized webinars on CBAM and PFAS and issued relevant positions. In February 2025, a position on the EU Water Resilience Strategy was issued and submitted for public consultation. CEIR - Taps & Valves Europe communicates to its members and public through its website, social media account, newsletters (gazette) and press releases on the association activities and relevant news. In March 2024, CEIR—Taps & Valves Europe joined forces with a coalition of European organizations to call upon the European Commission to deliver the Water Resilience Initiative and has been actively involved in the Coalition since then.

- CEIR is an associate member of Orgalim, Europe's Technology Industries, a member of the European Drinking Water Alliance (EDW), and a founding member of the Unified Water Label Association. It is also an observer in CEFIC's FFP4EU group and a member of the Water Resilience Coalition - It cooperates with several European trade associations (Europump, Pneurop, Applia-Europe) and platforms (WaterEurope) and it has ties with VMA, PMI, NKBA in USA. - CEIR experts are participating at the CEN/TC 69/164/442 of CEN - European Committee for Standardization More information on www.ceir.eu
