Mission & Goals

Since 1988 it is a network of 44 national and regional federations, as well as 16 partnering organisations in 31 countries in Europe. Together they manage around 25 million homes, about 11% of existing dwellings in Europe. Social, public and co-operative housing providers have a vision of a Europe which provides access to decent and affordable housing for all in communities which are socially, economically and environmentally sustainable and where everyone is enabled to reach their full potential. Therefore, they do not just provide affordable homes but a number of other services such as: - Domiciliary care and support services for residents with specific needs - Additional services for tenants (kindergardens, community centres, employment and training services, financial advice) - Neighbourhood services - Management of other types of ‘sheltered’ accommodation - Urban development and urban regeneration

Additional Information

We lead and take part in several European projects to translate our policy objectives into action, but do not receive operating grants. Public, cooperative, and social housing providers are working on the new frontiers in our sector. Decarbonising homes in a just way, shaping exemplary neighbourhoods, relying on circularity to put precious materials into reuse, backing up decisions by data, lifting energy poverty, introducing shared mobility, setting up innovative finance schemes, you name it. Here are the projects we have already completed. https://www.housingeurope.eu/section-38/our-projects
