Mission & Goals

The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) is a nonprofit advancing best practices in cloud computing security through research, standards, and certifications. - CSA develops globally recognized frameworks and certifications (including STAR and CCSK) to help organizations assess and improve their cloud security posture. - CSA convenes a global community of practitioners, enterprises, governments, and cloud providers to produce consensus-based security guidance across industries and jurisdictions. - CSA engages with regulators and policymakers to ensure technical expertise informs cloud security policy and legislation. - CSA extends its remit to emerging technology risks, including AI, zero trust, IoT, and quantum-safe cryptography.

EU Legislative Interests

- EU AI Act — engaging on security requirements for high-risk AI systems and supporting implementation guidance for cloud-based AI services. - NIS2 Directive — promoting cloud security best practices aligned with NIS2's cybersecurity obligations for essential and important entities. - European Cybersecurity Certification Scheme for Cloud Services (EUCS) — contributing technical expertise to cloud security certification standards under ENISA. - EU Data Act & Data Governance Act — addressing secure data sharing frameworks and cloud interoperability requirements. - DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act) — supporting financial sector compliance with cloud-related ICT risk and resilience requirements.

Communication Activities

- Research & publications — CSA publishes guidance and whitepapers on EU-relevant topics, including AI security, cloud certification, and operational resilience, aligned with the AI Act, EUCS, and DORA. - Events — CSA hosts summits and workshops globally, including sessions at RSA Conference and its own CSA Congress, covering EU cybersecurity policy developments and compliance frameworks. - ENISA & standards engagement — CSA contributes technical expertise to ENISA consultations and European standardisation processes related to cloud and AI security certification. - Working groups — CSA operates dedicated working groups on AI safety, zero trust, and IoT security that produce outputs directly relevant to NIS2, DORA, and the AI Act. - Training & certification — CSA's CCSK and STAR certification programs help organisations across Europe demonstrate compliance with emerging EU cloud security requirements.
