Mission & Goals

Climate Justice for Rosa is a youth-led non-profit organisation that amplifies the voices of those already affected by the climate crisis. It was founded after the 2021 floods in Belgium, which took the life of 15-year-old climate activist Rosa. The campaign works to humanise the climate crisis by sharing testimonies of victims and survivors, advocating for intergenerational justice, and pushing for strong climate policies. CJfR engages with EU institutions to ensure that climate victims are remembered, that young people are heard, and that action is taken to prevent further loss.

EU Legislative Interests

Climate Justice for Rosa engages with EU institutions on key climate and environmental policies, including: – The European Green Deal – The EU Climate Law (Regulation (EU) 2021/1119) – The EU Strategy on Adaptation to Climate Change – The Just Transition Mechanism – The Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D) – The EU Disaster Resilience Goals – The Green Claims Directive (combatting greenwashing) – EU positions in global climate negotiations, particularly around Loss and Damage finance – Cross-cutting themes such as intergenerational justice, meaningful youth participation, and commemoration of climate victims

Communication Activities

Climate Justice for Rosa regularly engages the public and policymakers on EU climate and environmental policies through communication and advocacy activities, including: – The campaign for the EU Day for the Victims of the Global Climate Crisis, which resulted in its official recognition in 2023. – Annual commemoration events on 15 July, attended by EU officials and focused on remembrance, intergenerational justice, and loss and damage. – Awareness campaigns and open letters – Participation in and public reporting from COPs, including interviews, op-eds, and direct engagement with EU representatives. – Educational initiatives including the play For Rosa (booked over 160 times so far), which connects climate inaction to personal loss and policy consequences. – Testimonies and media publications that highlight the human impact of climate inaction, often in collaboration with young people from climate-affected regions. – Public events and workshops at institutions such as the European Parliament and the European Youth Event (EYE), focused on intergenerational justice and youth inclusion in EU policy.
