Mission & Goals
The Clean Clothes Campaign is dedicated to improving working conditions and supporting the empowerment of workers in the global garment and sportswear industries. Who we are Since 1989, the CCC has worked to help ensure that the fundamental rights of workers are respected. We educate and mobilise consumers, lobby companies and governments, and offer direct solidarity support to workers as they fight for their rights and demand better working conditions. In Europe, the Clean Clothes Campaign is an alliance of organisations in 16 countries. Members include trade unions and NGOs covering a broad spectrum of perspectives and interests, such as women’s rights, consumer advocacy and poverty reduction. Globally, we are composed of a network of members and partners of more than 200 organisations and unions in garment-producing countries to identify local problems and objectives, and to help us develop campaign strategies to support workers in achieving their goals.
EU Legislative Interests
-Work on general human rights due diligence initiatives (non financial reporting directive, mandatory human rights due diligence legislation). -Work on specific files in the garment sector (EU Flagship initiative on Garment, EU Strategy on Textile). -Work on trade (Generalised Scheme of Preferences). -Work on the EU's response to the COVID-19 crisis and its impact on garment workers. -Work on country cases and events relevant to the Ready Made Garment production (European Parliament, EEAS).
