Mission & Goals

CATF is an international climate NGO that works to safeguard against the worst impacts of climate change by catalyzing the rapid global development and deployment of low-carbon energy and other climate-protecting technologies through research and analysis, public advocacy leadership, and partnership with other NGOs, academics, and the private sector.

EU Legislative Interests

Clean Air Task Force (CATF) follows numerous files related to the EU's climate and energy policy framework. CATF has mainly been focusing on cutting methane emissions, hydrogen, carbon management, industrial decarbonisation, electricity and grids, infrastructure deployment, geothermal energy, fusion, SMRs, and transport. Among others, CATF has been working on the Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA), the Carbon Removal Certification Framework (CRCF), the Methane Regulation, the Industrial Accelerator Act, the Emissions Trading System (ETS), the CO2 transport and markets Regulation, the Grid Package, the geothermal action plan, the fusion strategy.

Communication Activities

CATF focuses mainly on advocacy. CATF has published reports and briefings. Among others, CATF published a report on National Energy and Climate Plan (https://www.catf.us/resource/bridging-planning-gap/), on a vision for EU net zero (https://www.catf.us/resource/a-vision-for-the-eu-net-zero-transition/), on potential measures on methane emissions from imports (https://www.catf.us/2023/09/designing-eu-methane-import-standard/), on public opinions on energy and climate technologies (https://www.catf.us/2023/11/polling-shows-that-europe-is-ready-for-clean-firm-energy-technologies/), on a carbon management strategy (https://www.catf.us/2023/11/tracking-progress-europes-2023-carbon-capture-projects/), on SMR strategy (https://www.catf.us/resource/clean-air-task-force-recommendations-for-the-eu-smr-strategy), on the grid package ( https://www.catf.us/resource/catf-recommendations-for-the-upcoming-grid-package/), on the fusion strategy (https://www.catf.us/resource/fusion-engine-growth-european-industrial-strategy-fusion-energy/). CATF also had communication campaign on methane emissions reduction, mainly focusing on cutting emissions from imports (see here: https://cutmethane.eu/). CATF co-hosted events with MEPs on the fusion strategy and the ETS. CATF was also invited to speak in parliamentary events about the Net Zero Industry Act and CCS.
