Mission & Goals

Our NGO aims at creating a network in support of Clean Air policies in Italy, joining in various citizens groups spread around Italy to jointly advocate and achieve swift improvement of air quality policies in Italy. Citizens for Air also wishes to bridge the gap between advocacy in favour of Clean Air and scientific reseach which is crucial to support the adoption of plans and programs that are consistent with emission reductions. It will also support robust European policies in favour of Clean Air through European NGOs. Citizens for Air believes in advocacy, environmental legal defense and citizenship participation in planning and participatory science projects

EU Legislative Interests

Support to EEB work for Italy Support to T&E work for Italy Advocating for ambitious air quality policies within the air quality directive fitness check and shipping emissions reduction through the adoption of a Mediterranean NECA Contributing to Zero pollution AP

Communication Activities

We ordinarily contribute by participating to local, regional and national planning on issues that are linked to air quality; our ngo also carries out legal court cases to achieve implementation of air quality legislation and abidance of policies to air quality legislation. We are promoting improvement of transport policies and adoption of LEZ in urban areas, while at the same time supporting change of national legislation linked to these policies (national road code). On shipping we are advocating the adoption of environmental criterias for maritime industries that provide shipping and transport services in Italy and in the Mediterranean. We also spread information on health issues related to air quality and its impact on human health.
