Mission & Goals
Cittadinanzattiva APS (www.cittadinanzattiva.it) is an organization, founded in Italy in 1978, which promotes citizens' activism for the protection of rights, the care of common goods, the support for people in conditions of weakness. It has also been officially recognized in Italy as a consumer organization since 2000. Since December 2001, Cittadinanzattiva operates also at the EU level thanks to its branch called Active Citizenship Network (ACN) - which has a dedicated website https://www.activecitizenship.net/about-us/cittadinanzattiva-active-citizenship-network.html - and a representative office to the EU located in Brussels. Our commitment at the EU level is based on the following four pillars: 1.rights & duty; 2.empowerment; 3.cross-border related issues; 4.sustainability. EU Legislative Interests
Cittadinanzattiva, through its EU branch “Active Citizenship Network”, advocates to promote and strengthen citizen activism and participation in policy processes and to improve the protection of citizens' and patients' rights. In terms of EU policy priorities for 2025, Cittadinanzattiva – through its EU branch Active Citizenship Network - will mainly focus on: 1. Health promotion & disease prevention, starting from the EU Vaccines Strategy; addressing vaccine hesitancy across the EU 2. Vaccine preventable respiratory diseases and respiratory care; COVID19 3. Adult rare diseases and ensuring integrated, coordinated care for all rare disease patients 4. The EHDS, health data sharing and the implications of returning health data to clinical trials patients 5. Antimicrobial Resistance and the EU pharmaceutical legislation 6. Health systems, healthcare workforce crisis and medical desertification 7. Supporting the implementation of the New Consumer Agenda (with a focus on sustainability and energy issues) to empower European consumers to play an active role in the green and digital transition.
