Mission & Goals
Christian Aid Ireland is an international aid and development agency founded by the Protestant Churches of Great Britain and Ireland. As part of the Christian Aid family, we work across more than 30 countries to support poor and marginalised people, whatever their beliefs, sexuality, gender or ethnicity, to lift themselves out of poverty. We work for and with people of all faiths and none to promote sustainable development, strive for social justice and pursue our vision of a world without poverty. We do this by tackling both the causes and the symptoms of poverty so that everyone can achieve equality, dignity and freedom.
EU Legislative Interests
Christian Aid Ireland follows and EU legislative proposals or policies that are relevant for international aid and development. This includes issues of corporate accountability, business & human rights, tax justice, sovereign debt, climate change, and aid & development policy more generally. Whenever files are progressing through the EU institutions that are relevant to global poverty, aid or development we try to engage with the relevant EU institution. This is primarily with Ireland's elected MEPs in the European Parliament, or the relevant DGs in the Commission. We publish research reports on our website on the issues listed above, and regularly hold events both in Ireland and online. We are registered on the national lobbying transparency register in Ireland and update it quarterly. It is viewable online at www.lobbying.ie.
