Mission & Goals
ChildFund Alliance is a global network of 10 child-focused development and humanitarian organizations, supporting nearly 36 million children and their families across 66 countries. Together, our members work to end violence and exploitation against children; deliver child-sensitive humanitarian action in fragile and crisis-affected contexts; and promote climate policies and programming that uphold and amplify the voices of children and youth. We partner with children, families, and communities to drive lasting, meaningful change, with children’s participation at the heart of our approach. Our collective commitment, resources, innovation, and expertise form a powerful force that helps create safer, more resilient environments where children can thrive and families can build more hopeful futures.
EU Legislative Interests
The ChildFund Alliance Europe Office strengthens the engagement and cooperation of ChildFund Alliance with European Union (EU) institutions. Established in Brussels in 2014, the Office works closely with the Alliance Secretariat and members to advocate for EU policies, programmes, and funding that advance children’s rights and promote sustained investment in children’s well-being. It collaborates with UN agencies, NGOs, and civil society networks to ensure children’s rights remain a priority in the EU’s external action, including development cooperation and humanitarian aid. ChildFund Alliance is a member of CONCORD Europe, the European confederation of Relief and Development NGOs and the main interlocutor with EU institutions on development policy. In Brussels, ChildFund Alliance also participates in the Children’s Rights Action Group, a coalition committed to making children’s rights a priority on the EU agenda. The coalition supports the Intergroup on Children’s Rights in the European Parliament, which works to mainstream children’s rights across EU policy and decision-making. More specifically, the main legislative proposals and policy areas targeted include: - Internal and external EU policies relevant to children’s rights (EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child; European Child Guarantee; etc.) - Policies and action plans related to international partnerships and humanitarian aid (e.g., Youth Action Plan; Gender Action Plan) - Programming frameworks under DG INTPA and DG ECHO - Relevant sections of the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) concerning development cooperation and humanitarian assistance
