Mission & Goals
The Center for Wild Animal Welfare is a non-profit organisation that aims to improve the welfare of wild animals through government policy. We engage with policymakers, regulators and civil society to promote evidence-based policies that improve wild animal welfare. We focus primarily on national and European level policy. We work on a range of issues, such as: planning and infrastructure policy (e.g. bird-safe glass), humane wildlife management (e.g. fertility control), and biocides regulation.
EU Legislative Interests
European Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR, Regulation (EU) No 528/2012)
Communication Activities
Development of evidence-based policy position papers and consultation responses on the Biocidal Products Regulation, with a focus on animal welfare impacts and the promotion of fertility control as an alternative to lethal methods. We have submitted evidence to the recent Call for Evidence on the Biocidal Products Regulation - see here: https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/better-regulation/have-your-say/initiatives/14527-Biocidal-Products-Regulation-evaluation/F33378049_en We also conducted outreach to other non-profits and media organisations to highlight this evidence.
