Mission & Goals
CARE Deutschland is a non-profit organization that provides emergency aid worldwide and promotes development projects to alleviate poverty. Gender equality is at the heart of our work. Our goal is to strengthen the voices and rights of women and girls and to enable them to participate effectively in all decisions that determine their lives. CARE informs policy makers and ministries about different country contexts, challenges in aid projects, and highlights successes and opportunities for improvement. We advocate for needs-based and gender-responsive humanitarian and transitional assistance, for the protection of women and girls from sexual violence, for their access to reproductive health services and for more climate justice in North-South cooperation.
EU Legislative Interests
As an organization for humanitarian aid and development cooperation CARE Deutschland monitors EU policies in: development cooperation, humanitarian aid, gender equality and women’s rights, implementation of UNSCR 1325/women, peace and security, climate change, migration. We have special interest in the EU Gender Action Plan, gender in emergencies, as well as in the humanitarian situation and the EU response in Syria, Sudan, Yemen, Gaza and Ukraine.
