Mission & Goals

Danish Tech Startups (DTS) is dedicated to supporting tech startups and entrepreneurs in Denmark and across Europe by fostering innovation, collaboration, and resilience. We aim to build a thriving ecosystem where founders have access to the resources, networks, and policies needed to drive growth and make EU a global leader in technology and innovation. With a strong focus on democratic values, we advocate for cohesive policies that eliminate barriers to entrepreneurship, prioritize investments in critical sectors like defense tech, and address pressing challenges such as EU’s lag in global competitiveness. Our commitment extends to supporting Ukraine’s resilience through innovation, recognizing the important role of technology in shaping the future of security and democracy. Through partnerships, events, and dialogue with policymakers and startups, DTS bridges local and EU efforts to create sustainable growth and elevate Europe’s position in the global tech landscape.

EU Legislative Interests

Our organization focuses on contributing to discussions and raising awareness on: The European Innovation Agenda (COM(2022) 332) to improve the EU's environment for tech startups and global competitiveness. The European Defence Fund (EDF) Regulation (EU) 2021/697 to encourage greater investment in defense technology innovation, particularly to support Ukraine and EU resilience. The Digital Decade Policy Programme 2030 (Decision (EU) 2022/2481), specifically its focus on enhancing the EU's technological sovereignty and fostering innovation. Horizon Europe – Cluster 3 (Civil Security for Society), to highlight the importance of research and innovation in defense and dual-use technologies. These efforts are aligned with our mission to prevent the EU from lagging behind in innovation and to ensure its geopolitical strength in the future.

Communication Activities

Danish Tech Startups (DTS) organizes targeted events and campaigns to engage stakeholders on critical EU policies, focusing on fostering innovation, supporting defense technology investments, and strengthening Europe’s global competitiveness. Recently, we held an open event showcasing Ukraine’s groundbreaking defense innovations and rapid entrepreneurial progress. The event highlighted the critical role of innovation in Ukraine’s fight for freedom, demonstrating how technology drives resilience and success. Through such initiatives, DTS connects policymakers, entrepreneurs, and investors to advocate for cohesive policies and inspire action toward a stronger, more innovative Europe.

Additional Information

Our organization's annual costs related to EU activities are modest, amounting to approximately €2,205 in total. This is due to our small organization and the limited scope of our EU engagement. Staff costs are calculated based on one employee dedicating 5 hours per month (60 hours annually) to EU-related activities, which amounts to approximately €1,736 based on their hourly rate. Travel costs are minimal, totaling €268 per year, as we only occasionally travel to Brussels. Event costs are also low because we use free venues and share expenses with the European Startup Network (whom we are members of), resulting in an annual event cost of €200. Our low overall cost reflects our focus on small-scale, highly targeted EU activities without the need for a permanent presence. We are located in Copenhagen, Denmark, and have no EU office.
