Mission & Goals
Brainport Development (BPD) is the economic development agency for the Brainport Eindhoven region - the metropolitan area surrounding the city of Eindhoven. BPD is governed by a Triple Helix board but acts as an independent organisation. BPD operates at both the strategic and operational level and is tasked with, amongst other things, the development and implementation of the regions' leading economic strategic agenda, the Brainport Agenda. Furthermore, BPD is the orchestrator of the Brainport Eindhoven innovation ecosystem, organising and coordinating the Triple Helix collaboration to bring the Brainport Agenda into fruition. The Brainport Agenda consitutes the working areas of BPD, namely; 1) Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship; 2) Talent: the fuel for the technological engine, and; 3) Living environment and business climate.
EU Legislative Interests
Brainport Development develops and implements the leading regional economic strategy. This strategy is aligned with the relevant policy agendas at the regional, national and European level. At the European level, we target policies such as the Green Deal, Digital Strategy, Industrial policy and Research and Innovation policy.
Communication Activities
Brainport Development organises events which are linked to national and European policy agenda's and objectives. These include, among other things, organised regional visits for Ministerial staff and officials of the Dutch government and co-organising policy events in Brussels. Furthermore, Brainport Development develops Position papers linked to (European) policies and actively disseminates these.

Brainport Development is a member of the following associations/networks: Big Data Value Association (BDVA) https://bdva.eu/members/ Vanguard Iniatiative https://www.s3vanguardinitiative.eu/members/south-netherlands In the context of the Vanguard Initiative, Brainport Development is the operational co-lead for the South Netherlands along with the Province of North Brabant.

Brainport Development is a member of the following organisations/networks/associations: Cyber Weerbaarheidscentrum Brainport (https://cwbrainport.nl/en/) Foundation supporting regional companies (mainly SMEs) with cybersecurity ENZuid (https://enzuid.nl/deelnemers) Economic network which brings together eight Triple Helix orgsanitions located in the South Netherlands and the Provinces of South Netherlands (Zeeland, Noord-Brabant and Limburg) Brainport Industries (https://www.brainportindustries.com/nl/over-brainport-industries/over-ons) Cluster-/network organisation which brings together 1st, 2nd, and 3rd tier suppliers of the regional high-tech manufacturing industry.
Additional Information
Regarding the financial data, there is some additional information to be added as clarification / extra information: - Regarding the Regiofonds Brainport BV funding: the vast majority of these funds were further distributed to other regional entities (mainly Municipalities and schools in the Brainport Region). - Regarding the grants from EU funded projects: Brainport Development was coordinator in several of these projects and therefore the primary recipient of the funds. Funds have been further distributed to consortium partners.
