Mission & Goals
The purpose of the Association is to support science-based decision support for improving the sustainability of human activities, products and product systems, by empowering and engaging people around the world to collect and develop data on the impacts from human activities, products and product systems on the biophysical, social and economic environment, and to disseminate these data effectively and globally under a free license or in the public domain.

Organisation Members
Membership of the Association is open to any physical person of any nationality. Currently there are 64 individual members on the https://bonsai.groups.io/g/main and 3 individual members listed on https://github.com/BONSAMURAIS. Contributors come from e.g. Aalborg University, Leiden University, and Luxembourg Institute of Science & Technology. The members are mainly employees of universities and research institutions that actively contribute to the work of the association, and are therefore pay a reduced membership fee. The association is currently hosted by the Life Cycle Sustainability (LCS) Research Group at the Department of Sustainability and Planning of Aalborg University. The association is funded by membership contributions and sponsorships for specific events and activities.
Additional Information
Members that work pro bono pay a reduced membership fee. During the last years, these members have been completely exempt from payments to avoid the related un-proportional administrative costs. We are currently considering less costly ways to receive membership payments.
