Mission & Goals

Belgian Mobile ID is a joint venture between four (major) Belgian banks and three mobile network operators (plus small participation from the Belgian State through a public fund). Since 2017, it offers a digital ID solution allowing individuals, users of the itsme app (the ‘itsme® users’), to digitally interact with entities (commercial or not) offering a web-based or app-based service (the ‘itsme® partners’). The itsme® services include five functionalities: Signing Service: using a qualified electronic signature as per the eIDAS regulation. Identification Service: enables the itsme® partners to onboard new users/customers by receiving verified ID data concerning those users. Authentication Service: enables users to log in to applications with authentication processes compliant with the requirements under PSD2 Confirmation Service: enables users to give their consent to an order or an action Data Sharing from third party sources
