Mission & Goals

The Atzi Timurim Association is dedicated to preserving Jewish heritage, educating young people, promoting peace, and enhancing the quality of life in both the Jewish and broader local communities. Through cultural preservation, educational programs, and interfaith dialogue, it fosters mutual understanding and combats prejudice. The association works to revitalize Jewish historical sites, engage young people in learning about identity and tolerance, and support community development in a globalized world. By promoting local and regional patrimony, Atzi Timurim strengthens cultural pride while encouraging inclusive, peaceful coexistence. Rooted in memory and open to the future, it builds bridges across generations and communities.

Based on the goals and activities of the Atzi Timurim Association, which focus on Jewish heritage preservation, youth education, intercultural dialogue, peacebuilding, and community development within a globalized context, here is a list of specific EU legislative proposals and policies that align with and are most recently targeted by the association’s interest representation activities: Main EU legislative proposals or policies targeted: 1. Council Recommendation on Promoting Common Values, Inclusive Education, and the European Dimension of Teaching (2018/C 195/01) Supports educational initiatives that promote shared values, cultural diversity, and social inclusion—core aims of Atzi Timurim’s youth and intercultural education programs. 2. EU Strategy on Combating Antisemitism and Fostering Jewish Life (2021–2030) Directly supports Atzi Timurim’s work in preserving Jewish heritage, combating antisemitism, and improving the quality of life for Jewish communities across the EU. 3. European Framework for Action on Cultural Heritage (Staff Working Document SWD(2018) 491 final) Aligned with Atzi Timurim’s commitment to preserving and promoting Jewish and regional cultural heritage as part of the broader European cultural landscape. 4. EU Action Plan on Integration and Inclusion 2021–2027 Relevant to Atzi Timurim’s initiatives promoting mutual understanding, inclusion of minority communities, and interfaith dialogue at local and regional levels. 5. Proposal for a Council Recommendation on the Key Competences for Lifelong Learning (2018/C 189/01) Supports the association’s educational activities focused on civic competence, cultural awareness, and learning to live together in diverse societies. 6. Digital Education Action Plan 2021–2027 (COM/2020/624 final) Supports Atzi Timurim’s use of digital tools to promote cultural heritage, engage youth, and disseminate educational resources across borders.

Communication Activities

The Atzi Timurim Association has engaged in several forms of outreach with EU institutions to advocate for policies aligned with its mission. These activities include: Participation in EU consultations and public hearings related to the EU Strategy on Combating Antisemitism and Fostering Jewish Life, where the association submitted position papers and shared best practices from its heritage and education projects. Bilateral meetings with MEPs and Commission officials to discuss the challenges and opportunities in Jewish heritage preservation and intercultural youth education, highlighting the association’s fieldwork and needs of the local communities it serves. Participation in stakeholder events and working groups organized by relevant EU directorates, especially in the areas of education, culture, and inclusion. Contribution to European intergroups discussions on combating antisemitism, through presentations and informal briefings that reflect the realities on the ground and advocate for targeted support for Jewish cultural and educational initiatives.
