Mission & Goals
The Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions (SUHF) was founded in 1995 as an organisation for institutional cooperation on a voluntary basis. 38 universities and university colleges in Sweden are members (16 universities, 18 university colleges and 4 university art colleges). The Association aims at promoting sector interests to external actors and at strengthening internal cooperation. SUHF provides an arena for exchange of views and cooperation among its member institutions and safeguard their interests. It is acknowledged as the representative of Swedish universities and university colleges as a sector
EU Legislative Interests
EU’s next long-term budget (MFF) – EU funding for cross-border education, training and solidarity, young people, media, culture, and creative sectors, values, and civil society. MFF funding for External action. EU funding for competitiveness. European Research Area Act, and the long-term strategy to boost European Research Infrastructure and a European Innovation Act. The future European Strategy for Artificial Intelligence in Science. The European Education Area and the European Reseach Area. Erasmus+, European Universities Initiative, and more... The ongoing negotiations within the Council of the European Union on new recommendations and resolutions regarding the areas and issues listed above.
Communication Activities
The Union of Skills and the European Skills Agenda. Fair green and digital transitions, research. Blueprints, e.g.: on 27 March 2024, the EU Commission published a three-part higher education package in line with the European Higher Education Strategy and as a strategic instrument for achieving the European Education Area.
