Mission & Goals
AIM is the umbrella organisation of (not-for-profit) health mutuals and health insurance funds in Europe and in the world. Through its 52 members from 27 countries, health coverage is provided to some 240 million people in the world and around 200 million in Europe through compulsory and/or complementary health insurance and managing health and social facilities. Objectives and Mission AIM strives to defend the access to healthcare for all through solidarity-based and non-for profit health insurance. AIM’s mission is to provide a platform for members to exchange common issues and to represent their interests and values in the European and international Institutions. Values The AIM was founded in 1950 based on mutuals’ values which are: Solidarity Not-for-profit orientation Universal Access to healthcare Mutuals and health protection organisations believe that health is not a good like others and that people should be at the center of the healthcare system.
EU Legislative Interests
All initiatives, policies and legislative files that have an impact on the members of AIM, so mainly in the field of healthcare, pharmaceuticals, insurance regulation, social security, social economy, digital economy and health, artificial intelligence, long-term care, health promotion and disease prevention, Digitalisation of healthcare.
Communication Activities
AIM is organising workshops, conferences and seminars throughout the year with different topics as mentioned above. It also publishes position papers, press releases and recommendations to EU Institutions on healthcare-related subjects.

Additional Information
We joined a consortium for the Horizon Europe Project 101094938 which started in December 2022. We also had a contract with DG GROW on organising a workshop on mutuals. However, the contract was cancelled by the European Commission four weeks prior to the workshop due to internal reorganisation and we have been paid half of the sum as per the contract SI2.928700. We have co-organised a workshop on mutuals together with DG EMPL under a For Low Value Contract No. 801004146 in December 2025. The deliverables were sent to the European Commission DG EMPL January 21st.
