EU Legislative Interests

As National Standards Body, AFNOR essentially targets activities related to European standardization. Therefore, our main priorities would include topics related to supporting the EU Single Market Strategy. The following list of topics is of course not comprehensive, since legislation may be updated : - the EU standardization regulation (Regulation (EU) No 1025/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council (https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/FR/TXT/?qid=1414068508676&uri=CELEX:32012R1025)), - the New Legislative Framework and product legislation (https://single-market-economy.ec.europa.eu/single-market/goods/new-legislative-framework_en), - the Digital Product Passport (https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/reg/2024/1781/oj/eng), - the Corporate and Sustainability Reporting Directive (https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/FR/TXT/?uri=CELEX%3A02022L2464-20250417) - the Omnibus IV proposal for a Directive aligning new products with the digital age (https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/better-regulation/have-your-say/initiatives/14698-Omnibus-Directive-Aligning-product-legislation-with-the-digital-age_en) - Quantum technologies and Quantum Europe Strategy (https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/library/quantum-europe-strategy) Regarding those, AFNOR did reply to the European Commission initiatives on the Have Your Say portal. Furthermore, several meetings with national stakeholders have been organised in order to build the position for the French standardization community. These workshops were also an opportunity to make stakeholders aware about the EU strategy, priorities and policies. There exist European standardization organisations (CEN, CENELEC and ETSI) where AFNOR is strongly engaged. AFNOR is one of the founding member of these European organisations. AFNOR is member of their councils boards to contribute to governance and strategic orientations. AFNOR provides, through the principle of national delegations, technical support in the technical fields.
