Mission & Goals

The mission of the Association for Representation and Diplomatic Projects is to support young people through non-formal education, international cooperation and civic engagement. The organisation works exclusively in the youth field, promoting active participation, intercultural dialogue and the development of key competences in a European and international context. Its objectives include promoting educational, civic and cultural values and implementing youth, educational, volunteering, European and international projects, including youth exchanges. Through workshops, training activities and international cooperation, the Association contributes to social inclusion, respect for human rights and democratic participation, in line with shared European values.

EU Legislative Interests

Association ARPD's advocacy and project work target key EU policies that directly impact youth development, non-formal education, and social inclusion. We specifically aim to monitor and contribute to the following frameworks: 1. Active monitoring and contribution to the implementation of the “Erasmus+ Programme (2021-2027)”, with a special focus on the Inclusion and Diversity Strategy, ensuring that our non-formal education activities provide opportunities for young people with fewer opportunities. 2. Supporting and promoting the respect for the “Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union”, through awareness projects and workshops that reinforce democratic values, the rule of law, and human rights principles among young people. 3. Contribute to the implementation of the “EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027”, by aligning our activities with European Youth Goal No. 3 (Inclusive Societies) and the ‘Connect’ pillar, utilizing non-formal methods. 4. Promoting the recognition of non-formal education within the “European Education Area by 2025” initiative, advocating for the validation of transversal skills and learning outcomes acquired through Erasmus+ and volunteering projects. 5. Commitment to the objectives of the “European Pillar of Social Rights Action Plan”, focusing on the principles related to equal opportunities and active support for the social inclusion of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. 6. Following the policies related to the “Reinforced Youth Guarantee Recommendation”, through mentoring and non-formal training projects that facilitate the professional integration of young people facing difficulties in entering the labour market.

Communication Activities

In the financial year under review, ARPD implemented a single project, structured around the Model United Nations (MUN) methodology, aimed at addressing the shared values and objectives of the United Nations and the European Union through a three-day educational and communication initiative, which brought together over 90 participants. As part of the project, ARPD organized a workshop on children’s rights, carried out with the support of UNICEF Romania. The Timișoara Model United Nations project sought to establish a link between the UN framework and that of the European Union, taking into account that Romania is an EU member state and that European policies align with international commitments made under the UN. The event combined the classic MUN methodology with elements of the Model European Union (MEU) to highlight the connection between international and European decision-making mechanisms. During the approximately seven-month preparation period, ARPD conducted online communication campaigns through its own and the project’s channels, including Instagram (@timisoara.mun), explaining the alignment between UN objectives and EU policies, as well as the role of the EU in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Within the committees, participants analyzed topics such as human rights, global warming, and environmental protection, subjects aligned both with the UN agenda and with EU priorities and values. The project included a committee dedicated exclusively to human rights, where participants also discussed the principles of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, as well as relevant objectives from the EU Youth Strategy 2019–2027 and the European Pillar of Social Rights, including equal opportunities and the social inclusion of young people. Through this activity, ARPD contributed to: - enhancing the understanding of the relationship between the UN and the EU; - stimulating informed dialogue and engaging young people in debates on the shared values and objectives of the UN and EU; - aligning educational activities with key EU policies, such as Erasmus+, the recognition of non-formal learning, and the promotion of social and -professional inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities.
