Mission & Goals
ARFIE (Association de Recherche et de Formation sur l'Insertion en Europe) was set up in 1992 as a European NGO to improve the support, social inclusion and accessibility of services for people with disabilities, people with important dependencies, and with associated mental health needs, and to foster quality training for professionals in the disability field. ARFIE founders and all its members share a vision: a person with disability shall remain the main decision-maker in his/her future life projects; the professionals should remain trained, skilled and qualified to offer an adequate support to the evolving needs of people with disabilities. ARFIE fully supports the UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities and promotes the development of know-how practice for its implementation. As an ordinary member of the European Disability Forum, ARFIE works in close collaboration with organisations and other stakeholders defending the rights of persons with disabilities.
EU Legislative Interests
ARFIE is not a lobby but promotes activities aimed at improving the quality of the services provided by its members and, ultimately, the quality of life of persons with disabilities and their family. Its interests in accessing EU premises and meeting with policy makers and EU representatives lies in the willing to promote its activities, the results of its actions, and bring them to the attention of relevant figures at EU level. ARFIE has therefore interest in meeting MEPs and officials that deal with disability, the implementation of the EU Disability Strategy social inclusion, social innovation, and social economy. Moreover, this opportunity would also give ARFIE to possibility to attend relevant for its network.
Communication Activities
ARFIE has promoted within its network the adoption and implementation of the European Disability Strategy 2010-2012 and nos 2021-2030. It also regularly updates its members on the advancement and adoption of legislative proposals that impact on the life of persons with disabilities and their families.
