Mission & Goals
Irídia is an association that works in Catalonia to defend human rights, primarily civil and political, using a methodology based on a combination of strategic litigation, psychosocial intervention, transformative communication, and political advocacy from an intersectional feminist approach. Our main goal is to contribute as a useful, rigorous, and independent tool in the state and international Catalan network of social organizations and movements in defence of human rights.
EU Legislative Interests
We are currently participating with other organizations on the following procedures of the European Parliament: Procedure 2020/0279/COD: Proposal for a REGULATION OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL on asylum and migration management and amending Council Directive (EC) 2003/109 and the proposed Regulation (EU) XXX/XXX [Asylum and Migration Fund] Procedure 2020/0278/COD: Proposal for a REGULATION OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL introducing a screening of third country nationals at the external borders and amending Regulations (EC) No 767/2008, (EU) 2017/2226, (EU) 2018/1240 and (EU) 2019/817 Procedure 2020/0277/COD: Proposal for a REGULATION OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL addressing situations of crisis and force majeure in the field of migration and asylum Procedure 2016/0132/COD: Proposal for a REGULATION OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL on the establishment of 'Eurodac' for the comparison of fingerprints for the effective application of [Regulation (EU) No 604/2013 establishing the criteria and mechanisms for determining the Member State responsible for examining an application for international protection lodged in one of the Member States by a third-country national or a stateless person] , for identifying an illegally staying third-country national or stateless person and on requests for the comparison with Eurodac data by Member States' law enforcement authorities and Europol for law enforcement purposes (recast) Procedure number: 2021/0106/COD: Proposal for a REGULATION OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL LAYING DOWN HARMONISED RULES ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ACT) AND AMENDING CERTAIN UNION LEGISLATIVE ACTS We also aim to participate in discussions on: Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union and its fulfilment by the Member States, especially with regard to respect for human dignity, the right to life, the prohibition of torture and discrimination. The Union shall respect fundamental rights, as guaranteed by the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms signed in Rome on 4 November 1950, and as they result from the constitutional traditions common to the Member States, as general principles of Community law.

Presentation of the Action Plan, for the improvement and modernisation of the mechanisms of transparency and accountability of police forces in Spain.
