Mission & Goals
A Associação Nacional das Farmácias (ANF), fundada em 1975, representa os proprietários de farmácias comunitárias em Portugal. Atualmente, agrega mais de 2.700 farmácias filiadas, o que corresponde a cerca de 94% do total de farmácias comunitárias no país. A Associação trabalha diariamente em prol do desenvolvimento contínuo das farmácias comunitárias e do exercício da profissão, antecipando tendências e liderando a implementação de soluções inovadoras, que permitam às farmácias melhorar a jornada de saúde e bem-estar da população, e reforçar a união das farmácias com a sociedade. As suas áreas de intervenção estendem-se aos domínios político, associativo, profissional, empresarial, económico-financeiro, bem como à responsabilidade social e cultural, de modo a posicionar as farmácias comunitárias como parceiros essenciais no desenho e implementação das políticas de saúde pública.
EU Legislative Interests
All legal, economic and policy dossiers with impact on pharmacies and community Pharmacists namely Pharmaceutical legislation and regulation, veterinary legislation, data protection, Health digital market and the impact of fiscal policy on Health. European Health Union and Pharmaceutical Strategy for Europe are two important European dossiers that are being followed by ANF. Medicines shortages: monitoring of shortages at national level and awareness at European level to the difficulties of access to medicines in Portugal. Digital Single Market: new developments with impact on the healthcare sector are being followed and monitored. Contacts with European Commission and Portuguese MEPs to promote the Portuguese Pharmacies digital agenda. European funding and opportunities to further develop pharmacy practice in Portugal, fostering digital transformation and patient-centred care, Falsified Medicines Directive: ANF is actively involved in the implementation of the directive engaging with decision makers, regulators and other stakeholders both at national and European level. ANF is a member of the national stakeholders’ consortium, entity responsible for the implementation and operationalization of the commission delegated regulation requirements concerning the national repository. European Semester: The European Commission analysis are monitored; regular economic updates on the Portuguese pharmaceutical market and pharmacy sector are send to relevant stakeholders namely DG ECFIN and DG SANTE. Value Based Healthcare: identify new trends and opportunities in the field of VBH, highlighting the added value of pharmacies interventions to healthcare systems and patients.
Communication Activities
ANF publishes a monthly newsletter ANFInforma with regular updates on the projects implemented in community pharmacies as well as relevant economic and market data for policymakers; the magazine "Revista Farmácia Portuguesa" with institutional information related to the activities and projects of ANF and the community pharmacies; the magazine "Revista Saúda" to general the public with health information.
