Mission & Goals
The Assembly of European Regions (est.1985) is the largest independent network of regions in the wider Europe. Bringing together 130+ regions from 35 countries, AER's mission is to be the voice of the regions of Europe: - Promoting regional interests in Europe and beyond; - Fostering interregional cooperation to promote the exchange of experience and the development of regional policy.

Policies and legislation with an impact at the regional level, more specifically in the fields regional development, cohesion policy, agriculture and rural development, business and industry, climate, digital economy and society, transport, public health, education, employment and social affairs, migration, youth, culture, equal opportunities, EU enlargement, institutional affairs. Eg: European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and Cohesion Fund Regulation; European territorial cooperation Regulation; European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) Regulation; Common provisions regulation (CPR); Common Agricultural Policy Regulations; European Green Deal legislation notably proposals included in the Fit for 55 package; EU Industrial Strategy; EU migration and asylum policy
