Mission & Goals

Assarmatori is an Italian shipowners’ association based in Rome, Italy. It represents Italian-based shipping companies and international shipping companies operating regular maritime services in Italy. According to its bylaws, Assarmatori aims to contribute to the development of national and international transport policies by promoting an innovative, globalized, sustainable, and environmentally friendly system capable of supporting the country’s economic, social, civil, and cultural growth. Assarmatori represents a large part of the merchant fleet registered in Italy and some of the major shipping operators which maintain regular shipping services in Italy, contributing to the overall Italian maritime cluster. As a national shipping association, Assarmatori addresses all technical, legal, environmental, safety, training, employment, and trade policy matters that affect ship and port operations

Communication Activities

Assarmatori provides its Members with informational materials on relevant shipping issues including issues relating to section nine initiatives, policies and activities. Such includes Circulars, Alerts, and informative emails concerning EU related issues. Assarmatori published its General Assembly Report along with Assarmatori’s President’s Speech and, in 2024 and 2025, published an EU strategic agenda 2024 - 2029 that can be consulted on the association's website. The EU strategic agenda is subject to an annual update in occasion of each association's General Assembly. Assarmatori attends various events hosted/organized and/or supported by the Commission and the EP in relation to Initiatives followed in Section 9, including: - DG MOVE Maritime Stakeholders' Meeting, Passengers Rights Unit, ESSF meetings, SAGMAS meetings; - Events also for topics involving: European Maritime Space (EMS); CEF and TEN-T funding and call information days; CEI Initiative; Piracy/Maritime security issues hosted by the Commission and IMO; Shade Med Conference. - Attendance of Meeting as a Member of the European Ports Forum; - Attendacne of Meeting organized by Members of the European Parliament. For public relations, communications, events and other activities relating to the EU level and in general, Assarmatori posts information on its website and social profiles.
