Mission & Goals
ANBPR is the most representative professional organisation of librarians in Romania, with over 3,300 active members in 41 counties, which has promoted, over the last 35 years, a modern system of public libraries at the community level by providing services adapted to the current needs of users in Romania. ANBPR is a non-governmental and non-profit organisation active in the field of social inclusion services for disadvantaged people and involved in widening the participation in cultural education of disadvantaged local communities, through a wide range of cultural services. ANBPR promotes dialogue between the main cultural "actors" from rural or urban areas in Romania: librarians, writers, artists, curators, teachers, educators or any other promoter of universal cultural and spiritual values at the local level, using public libraries as the main "stage" from Romania.

Communication Activities
ANBPR initiated the EUSPHERE project, an advocacy project in the interests of libraries, intended to demonstrate the value of public libraries in attracting EU funding, through the development of a community of practice for advocacy in the interests of libraries at national level, workshops and a series of meetings with government representatives and parliamentarians. It advanced the idea of creating a national reserve fund that would allow libraries to support their financial co-participation when applying to European projects.
