Mission & Goals
Aspen Institute Romania (AIR) is a non-profit, non-governmental association dedicated to promoting enlightened leadership in Romania and its region and to encouraging open-minded and informed debate among leaders about the challenges facing our societies. AIR's mission is twofold: to foster values-based leadership, encouraging individuals to reflect on the ideals and ideas that define a good society, and to provide a neutral and balanced venue for discussing and acting on critical issues affecting Romanian society and the region. Since 2025, AIR has initiated the European Center for Economic Security, Technology and Resilience (ECESTR). Its mission is to strengthen the European Union’s strategic autonomy by countering emerging hybrid threats, enhancing economic security, and continue to uphold European solidarity in a volatile geopolitical environment. The Center will serve as a leading hub for research, analysis, policy development, and capacity building.
