Mission & Goals

ADEM Romania represents Romanian companies engaged in the parallel trade of pharmaceuticals within the EU. The association advocates for fair market access, the free movement of medicines, and a transparent, competitive internal market. ADEM promotes compliance with EU pharmaceutical legislation, contributes to policy discussions on access, shortages, and pricing, and supports regulatory harmonization and good distribution practices. Through the EU Transparency Register, ADEM seeks to engage constructively with EU institutions and ensure that the voice of parallel distributors is heard in shaping relevant policies.

EU Legislative Interests

ADEM Romania follows and contributes to EU policies and legislative proposals related to the EU Pharmaceutical Strategy, the revision of the EU general pharmaceutical legislation, Directive 2001/83/EC on the Community code for medicinal products. The association is particularly focused on initiatives affecting parallel trade, medicine shortages, market access, pricing transparency, intellectual property exemptions, and distribution chain regulations within the internal market. ADEM also monitors developments related to health emergency preparedness (HERA) and cross-border healthcare.

Communication Activities

ADEM Romania organizes and participates in sectoral roundtables, policy briefings, and workshops on EU pharmaceutical regulation, parallel trade, and medicine shortages. The association issues position papers, newsletters, and informational bulletins to its members on developments in EU legislation affecting the distribution of medicines. ADEM also collaborates with national authorities, EU-level stakeholders, and peer associations to contribute to consultations and promote transparency in the pharmaceutical supply chain.
