Mission & Goals
Since its establishment in 1970, Sedigas has been a driving force in fostering collaboration among all stakeholders to accelerate the energy transition, aiming to strike a balance between environmental sustainability, energy security, economic growth, and consumer well-being. In the current landscape of energy transformation, Sedigas seeks to communicate to society that natural gas and renewable gases (such as biomethane, hydrogen, and synthetic gas) represent sustainable and efficient energy sources, serving as both a present and future solution. Moreover, Sedigas acts as the representative body for the gas sector, serving as the main liaison with national, regional, and international authorities. It plays a crucial role in promoting the use of gas through a variety of initiatives and activities led by its Committees and Working Groups, which form the core of its functional structure.
EU Legislative Interests
As a stakeholder, SEDIGAS monitors the initiatives that the Euroepa Union carries out on issues related to natural gas. Now we are engaging with the Gas package 2021/0425(COD) Gas and hydrogen markets directive, 2021/0424(COD) Gas and hydrogen markets regulation and 2021/0423(COD) Methane emissions reduction in the energy sector
Communication Activities
Through out the year we organized several external meetings and publications at domestic level. the most relevant are: the Annual Meeting (around April every year) and the Annual Report (https://goo.gl/HEsXX7). Through out the year we try to have different meetings with EMP and their teams, officials from the EC and other external stakeholder of interest for SEDIGAS. We are members of EUROGAS, Marcogas, EBA and IGU.
