EU Legislative Interests

Artificial Intelligence Association of Lithuania (AIAL) is mainly focused on human and ethical implications of artificial intelligence as well as a reflection on the better use of big data for innovation. Our association’s members are aware of the White Paper on artificial intelligence published by European Commission in 2020. It stated the approach to excellence and trust, with a view to setting out policy options on how to achieve the twin objective of promoting the uptake of artificial intelligence and of addressing the risks associated with certain uses of such technology. Communication Activities

The Artificial Intelligence Association of Lithuania (AIAL) actively engages in communication activities aligned with EU policies on digital innovation, AI ethics, and research collaboration. The association organizes over 10 AI meetups annually, alongside specialized events such as the AI Lithuania Hackathon, AI in Medicine Conference (with the Lithuanian Research Academy), and European AI Forum sessions in Vilnius. It also hosted major international scientific conferences — including ECML PKDD 2024 and the upcoming ICANN 2025 in Kaunas — which align with EU goals of strengthening cross-border cooperation in AI research and fostering responsible AI ecosystems. Beyond events, AIAL supports public awareness and education campaigns on AI technologies, policy, and ethics, promoting EU-driven principles of transparency and trustworthy AI. Through publications, community discussions, and media presence, AIAL contributes to implementing EU AI policy priorities, such as responsible AI adoption, startup growth, and cross-sector collaboration. Its communication efforts reinforce Lithuania’s integration into the European AI landscape, fostering dialogue between academia, industry, and policymakers.
