Mission & Goals
Founded in 1980, the German Documentary Association / AG DOK is the largest professional association of independent producers in Germany, representing some 1.000 writers, directors and producers. The organization’s goal is to promote and support independent filmmaking, particularly documentaries, at all levels as an important contribution to cultural and socio-political discourse. The AG DOK holds a seat in numerous media policy committees in Germany, and frequently contributes opinions about cultural and media policy and copyright issues, including to the EU.
