Mission & Goals
Araminta’s work focuses on three core objectives: To defend, protect and advocate for the interests of threatened HRDs and activists in order to enable the continuation of their work and safeguard their communities. To facilitate the implementation of human rights projects in repressive environments by providing logistical, operational, and programmatic support within Araminta’s areas of expertise. To promote corporate accountability and the effectiveness of new legislation by contracting with HRDs and human rights experts for the provision of mandatory human rights due diligence consulting.
EU Legislative Interests
Araminta’s EU advocacy priority centres on advancing the adoption of recommendations published in January 2024 in the study “Enhancing the Protection of Human Rights Defenders (HRDs): Facilitating Access to the EU and Supporting HRDs from Third Countries”, commissioned by the Policy Department for External Relations within the Directorate-General for External Policies of the Union.
Communication Activities
This year, Araminta is placing a strong emphasis on building a coalition of organisations to advocate collectively for the importance of enhanced mobility and protection mechanisms for HRDs within the EU. By fostering collaboration and uniting voices, Araminta aims to ensure that the EU adopts a more cohesive and comprehensive approach to supporting HRDs.
