Mission & Goals

The Arab-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (ABLCC), established in 1978 and based in Brussels, works to promote economic relations between Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Arab countries. Its remit is to support trade facilitation, business cooperation, and institutional dialogue between European and Arab economic actors. ABLCC also serves as a Brussels-based platform for market intelligence and EU-Arab economic exchange through its EU–Arab Market Access Desk. The Chamber is linked to the wider Arab chamber ecosystem, including the Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for the Arab Countries, which connects chambers across the 22 Arab countries.

The New Pact for the Mediterranean; Global Gateway; EU trade, sustainability and market-access regulations (CBAM, EUDR, CSDDD...); EU Critical Raw Materials Act; EU policies and initiatives related to trade facilitation, customs simplification, investment climate, and private-sector participation; Relevant European Commission consultations, dialogues and support frameworks concerning private-sector engagement, market intelligence, and economic cooperation with North Africa, the Middle East and the Gulf; Migration and mobility; FTAs; Strategic Partnerships; Green and digital transition; Energy.

Communication Activities

ABLCC’s communication and engagement activities in relation to the above EU policies mainly include: briefings, meetings and exchanges with EU institutional stakeholders, chambers, embassies, companies and business intermediaries on EU–Arab economic relations; regulatory and market intelligence notes prepared through the EU–Arab Market Access Desk on EU developments affecting Arab economic actors and EU–Arab business engagement; publications and briefings on issues related to market access, sustainability-related trade measures, business environment constraints, and evolving EU policy frameworks relevant to North Africa, the Middle East and the Gulf; business events, roundtables and dialogue formats bringing together economic actors and institutional interlocutors around practical issues affecting EU–Arab trade, investment climate and cooperation; outreach and information-sharing through chamber channels, including website, newsletters, and stakeholder communication, to improve awareness of EU policy developments relevant to Arab private-sector actors. ABLCC’s communication activities are practical and non-partisan. They are intended to support information-sharing, structured dialogue, and better understanding of EU frameworks affecting economic engagement with the Arab region.

ABLCC is part of the wider Arab chamber ecosystem and is linked to the Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for the Arab Countries, which connects chambers across the 22 Arab countries. ABLCC is also connected to the wider network of Arab foreign joint chambers present in a range of countries including Australia, Argentina, Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Malta, Portugal, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. The ABLCC is accredited by the Federation of Belgian Chambers of Commerce and is part of the BLCCA network.

In addition, ABLCC is linked to the wider system of Arab foreign joint chambers, which extends the reach of Arab business networks internationally. These foreign joint chambers are present in a wide range of countries including Australia, Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Greece, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Malta, Portugal, Switzerland, and the United States.
