Mission & Goals
Created in 2005, AquaFed is the International Federation of Private Water Operators. AquaFed represents more than 400 private operators and private water organisations providing water and sanitation services in more than 40 countries worldwide including many EU countries. Our missions are to: promote public-private partnership, create a collaborative water community, contribute to the 2030 UN Agenda and guarantee the human right to water and sanitation for all. We have contributed to EU consultations and policy work for many years.
EU Legislative Interests
Our focus is water and climate change. So we focus on all policy issues and legislation in these areas. Examples include: Water Framework Directive Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive Drinking Water Directive Concessions Directive Emissions Directive
Communication Activities
We work mostly through Water Europe for our activities. Our recent focus was on the revision of the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive: https://www.aquafed.org/current-work
