Mission & Goals
Animals International is the global arm of Animals Australia, Australia's foremost animal advocacy organisation. It's mission is to investigate, expose and raise community awareness of animal cruelty, to provide animals with the strongest representation possible to Government and other decision-makers, and to educate, inspire, empower and enlist the support of the community to prevent and prohibit animal cruelty. Animals International also collaborates with many other animal protection groups throughout the world, in order to provide animals with the strongest possible representation.
EU Legislative Interests
All those relevant to animal welfare standards and Directives, e.g. Regulation 1/2005 in regard to the welfare of animals during transport, the Commission's Food to Fork Strategy and the use of animals in research and testing.
Communication Activities
As indicated earlier, our interest is particularly to ensure the treatment of animals is humane and that European laws are improved and compliance with existing Directives is ensured. Long distance transport is an ongoing focus of our work in Europe and more recently also the use of animals in research and testing. Issues of trade and wildlife are also advocated at different times. These animal advocacy initiatives are usually in partnership with Eurogroup For Animals and other like-minded groups.
