Mission & Goals

The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) serves to advance U.S. paper and wood products manufacturers through fact-based public policy and marketplace advocacy. AF&PA member companies make essential products from renewable and recyclable resources, generate renewable bioenergy and are committed to continuous improvement through the industry’s sustainability initiative. AF&PA's aim is to contribute constructively to the implementation process of the European Union Deforestation-free Regulation by ensuring the perspectives and concerns of the U.S. forest and paper industry are fully represented.

EU Legislative Interests

The U.S. pulp, paper and packaging industry is deeply concerned that the European Union Deforestation-free Regulation (EUDR) presents severe compliance challenges and imposes excessive burden and technical barriers.
