Mission & Goals

The ABA Center for Global Programs (ABA CGP), through 501(c)3 American Bar Association Fund for Justice and Education, includes the Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) and Center for Human Rights (ABA CHR). For 30 years and in over 100 countries, ABA ROLI has promoted justice, economic opportunity, and human dignity through the rule of law. For over 20 years, ABA CHR has mobilized lawyers to defend threatened advocates, protect vulnerable communities, and hold governments accountable under law.

Communication Activities

ABA CGP Executive Director met with European Commission staff in April 2025 to gather more information about the human rights and democracy policy and priorities. No ABA CGP staff members currently have plans or commitments to participate in communication activities related to EU policies.

ABA FJE is the legal non-profit entity through which we receive grant funding for international development work and is therefore administered by the American Bar Association, which represents the interests of the legal profession in the United States. ABA CGP is a member of the Society for International Development (SID) in the United States and is an observer to the United Nations.
